Description

DAY 01 – ARRIVAL IN COSTA RICA
Upon arrival at San José International Airport, you will be transferred privately to the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, an elegant property located just a short walk from the main historical buildings of the capital. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.

DAY 02 – THE VIBRANT PLAYA TAMARINDO
After breakfast, you will meet the representative from the car rental agency who will hand over your rental car. You’ll then drive independently to Playa Tamarindo, one of Costa Rica’s most vibrant spots and a popular destination for surfers, thanks to its consistently beginner-friendly waves. Upon arrival, check-in at the Luna Llena Hotel, a cozy establishment located close to the beach and Tamarindo’s main street. The rest of the day is at your disposal.

DAYS 03 & 04 – DAY AT LEISURE IN TAMARINDO
During your time here, you may explore this wild coastal area, featuring beautiful beaches such as Playa Avellanas, Playa Negra, and Bahia de los Piratas, all within a few kilometers from Tamarindo. Alternatively, head north to Playa Conchal, one of the most famous beaches in the region. We also recommend visiting nearby Playa Grande, known for the annual mass arrivals of Baulas turtles that come ashore in the evening to lay their eggs.

DAY 05 – PLAYA SAMARA AND THE BEACHES OF THE NICOYA PENINSULA
After breakfast, drive to Playa Samara, a small town overlooking a stunning, nearly deserted 4-kilometer tropical beach. Upon arrival, you will stay at La Locanda Hotel, a delightful property located right on the beach with an excellent oceanfront restaurant.

DAYS 06 & 07 – LEISURE DAYS IN PLAYA SAMARA
During your stay at Playa Samara, you can choose to relax on the beautiful beach, visit the many deserted beaches nearby, or engage in various sports activities. You can also go snorkeling at the nearby Isla Chora, located directly in front of Samara Beach and easily accessible by kayak. With some luck, you might witness the famous arrivals of sea turtles at the nearby Corozalito Beach, where they come cyclically to lay their eggs.

DAY 08 – TOWARDS THE CENTRAL PACIFIC COAST: MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will drive to Manuel Antonio, a beautiful seaside destination and home to the famous Manuel Antonio National Park, regarded as one of the top 10 most beautiful parks in the world. Upon arrival at your destination, check-in at the Costa Verde Hotel, a charming property nestled in a tropical forest populated by various groups of howler monkeys.

DAY 09 – GUIDED TOUR OF MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will embark on a guided tour of the nearby Manuel Antonio National Park, where well-marked trails wind through tropical beaches and rocky promontories surrounded by rainforest. After the tour, you can remain in the park to enjoy its beautiful beaches.

DAY 10 – DAY AT LEISURE IN MANUEL ANTONIO
Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a day at your leisure to relax on the beach.

DAY 11 – HEADING SOUTH TO UVITA
In the morning, you will drive to Uvita, a small town overlooking a long beach that is part of the Marino Ballena National Park, a vast protected area that includes 13,000 hectares of coastline. Every year, numerous groups of whales from both the Arctic and Antarctic converge in the warm waters of the national park, especially during the final stage of their gestation. Upon arrival, check-in at La Cusinga Lodge, a stunning property with breathtaking views of the Pacific coast.

DAY 12 – WHALE AND DOLPHIN WATCHING IN UVITA
After breakfast, drive to the office of our partners at Bahia Aventuras, located in the center of Uvita, where you will embark on an exciting 4-hour boat tour. You’ll have excellent chances to spot various whale groups migrating along this part of Costa Rica between December and February, and from July to October. You will also likely encounter numerous dolphins that reside near the Marino Ballena National Park. Return to shore is expected around 12:00/12:30, with the rest of the afternoon at your disposal.

DAY 13 – LEISURE TIME IN UVITA
A free day to relax on the beach or explore the beautiful deserted beaches near Uvita.

DAY 14 – DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel and a day at your disposal to drive to the Rental Car agency’s office (approximately 4.5 hours), located very close to San José International Airport, where you will return your rental car. You will be taken to the nearby airport terminal via a shuttle.
