DAY 01 – ARRIVAL IN COSTA RICA
Arrive at San José International Airport and transfer privately to the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, an elegant hotel located within walking distance of the city's main historical sites. Enjoy dinner on your own and an overnight stay.
DAY 02 – TOWARDS THE CARIBBEAN COAST
Depart at 6:30 AM from the hotel and transfer approximately three hours to La Pavona dock, the main embarkation point for Tortuguero National Park. After a 90-minute boat ride, arrive at Pachira Lodge Tortuguero where lunch will be served immediately upon arrival. In the afternoon, visit the small village of Tortuguero, and for those interested, the Sea Turtle Conservation Museum. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 03 – EXPLORING TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, join a boat tour through the park's canals, where you can observe a variety of animal species hidden within the dense tropical vegetation, including tapirs, caimans, sloths, and the rare manatee. In the afternoon, take a guided walk along the lodge's private trails, rich with butterflies and tropical frogs. Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 04 – TOWARDS THE BEACHES OF THE COSTA RICAN CARIBBEAN
Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel before departing by boat through the Tortuguero canals to La Pavona dock. Continue by minibus to Guapiles for lunch. From there, take a shuttle transfer to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, a lively town on the southern Caribbean coast. Upon arrival, stay at Hotel Costa de Papito, a comfortable tropical-style hotel located a short distance from the beach.
DAY 05 – GUIDED TOUR OF CAHUITA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, travel 15 kilometers north to Cahuita National Park. During the walk, your guide will provide information about the various animal species that inhabit the park, including sloths, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, and raccoons. At the end of the excursion, enjoy a Caribbean-style lunch.
DAY 06 – DAY AT LEISURE IN PUERTO VIEJO
Breakfast at the hotel and day at your leisure to relax on the beach or visit other beautiful tropical beaches nearby.
DAY 07 – THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS: LA FORTUNA AND THE MAJESTIC ARENAL VOLCANO
After breakfast, depart with a shuttle transfer to La Fortuna, a small tourist town at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano, currently dormant but once one of the most active in the world. Arrive in the early afternoon and stay at Volcano Lodge & Springs, a beautiful hotel surrounded by greenery with hot springs for guests. Afternoon will be at your disposal to relax in the hotel's hot springs.
DAY 08 – RIVER SAFARI ON THE PEÑAS BLANCAS RIVER
After breakfast, take a short minibus transfer to the Peñas Blancas River for an exciting river safari through the lush primary forest surrounding the Arenal Volcano. The excursion will take place on rafting boats, allowing you to get close to numerous animal species in the area. The afternoon is at your leisure to visit the famous La Fortuna waterfall on your own.
DAY 09 – PLAYA SAMARA AND THE BEACHES OF THE NICOYA PENINSULA
After breakfast, depart with a shuttle transfer to the Pacific coast for the next leg of your journey: the beautiful Playa Samara, a small town overlooking a stunning 4-kilometer-long tropical beach that is practically deserted. Upon arrival, stay at Hotel La Locanda, a delightful beachfront hotel with an excellent seafront restaurant. Lunch on your own and free afternoon. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.
DAYS 10 AND 11 – DAY AT LEISURE AT PLAYA SAMARA
During your stay at Playa Samara, you can choose to relax on the beautiful beach, visit numerous deserted beaches nearby, or engage in various sports activities. You can also go snorkeling at the nearby Isla Chora, located directly opposite Samara beach and easily reachable by kayak. With a bit of luck, you may also witness the famous arrival of sea turtles at the nearby Corozalito beach, where they come in the evening to lay their eggs.
DAY 12 – DEPARTURE FOR ITALY
After breakfast at the hotel, depart with a private transfer of approximately 4.5 hours to San José
International Airport, timed according to your flight departure.
